Under the INR790m (€9m) contract, the company will supply a total of 14 shunt reactors for the 765kV electrical substations at Kanpur and Jhatikara in the Uttar Pradesh, India.
With the highest power rating of 110 MVAR 1 Ph, 765/Ö3 kV, the reactors are designed to maintain the 765kV voltage level, whatever the load, by limiting transient over-voltages that can occur due to sudden load decreases.
Alstom T&D India managing director Rathin Basu said, ”This contract further reinforces the confidence that Powergrid has in Alstom’s capability to deliver 765kV products and solutions from its state of the art manufacturing facilities.”
Manufacturing work under the contract will be carried out at the company’s transformer and reactor manufacturing facility at Vadodara, India, while deliveries are scheduled for 2015.
