This project will be developed over the period 2012-2015 at Phase 2 of the Belwind wind farm located on the Bligh Bank on the Belgian continental shelf.

Alstom Power vice president of wind business Alfonso Faubel said that this partnership will benefit from Alstom’s wind turbine technology as well as from Belwind’s offshore project execution and wind farm installation capabilities.

The 40MW demonstrator project is calling for EU funding under the NER300 scheme.

Alstom said its offshore turbine has been designed to cut the end user’s cost of energy through the optimization of the complete turbine package.
