The contracts cover the delivery of EMS packages for southern and western regional load dispatch centers in India.

The systems are expected to help Power Grid make fast decisions using advanced visualization, information storage and retrieval tools.

Alstom T&D India managing director Rathin Basu said that since 2002, Alstom has been a pioneer in bringing in smart technology to India’s transmission grid.

"It has supplied equipment to India’s three out of five regional load dispatch centers and to the National Load Dispatch Centre," Basu added.

"This second wave of upgrades for the regional centers will significantly improve the operational efficiency and increase power flow across the Indian grid, particularly after the integration of southern grid into the national grid (expected in 2014)."
