Spanning 54,000 square meters, the facility is an advanced centre for research, development and testing of ultra high voltage alternating current and direct current transmission equipment and energy management solutions.
The company said that the centre, which costs EUR47m, will help conceive and develop the new solutions required for the future of electrical grids.
Alstom has designed the facility to accommodate large electrical equipment, with an ultra high voltage testing hall and R&D platforms such as scientific simulation tools, climate chamber, temperature rise testing lab and material testing labs.
