Alstom Grid has won a EUR66m contract from Iraq's Ministry of Electricity – Directorate General of Electrical Transmission Projects to design, manufacturer and install the Mosul East gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation.

This turnkey project includes a 400kV/132kV/11kV GIS substation, power transformers, site supervision and civil works.

The project is expected to be commissioned in 2013, and the GIS equipment will be manufactured by Alstom Grid in France and Switzerland.

Alstom Grid president Gregoire Poux-Guillaume said that the company is firmly committed to supporting Iraq’s economic development by providing its global expertise and electrical grid technologies for its infrastructure, oil & gas and utility projects.
