French engineering group Alstom has signed a EUR300m ($423.78m) contract with Ever Power IPP to extend an operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement for the Hai-Fu combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Under the new 15-year contract, Alstom will provide the full operation of the 980MW power plant and all necessary maintenance services with a permanent site crew.

The power plant, which was built in 1996, consists of two combined-cycle blocks with a total of four Alstom GT24 gas turbines.

Alstom has been executing an O&M contract for the power plant since 2001.

With Alstom’s KA24 technology, the power plant runs during the daytime and is switched off at night and the week-end, when demand for electricity is low as per the requirements of the power purchase agreement.
