Alstom has signed an agreement with hydro-turbine manufacturer Waplans for co-operation on the Swedish hydro market.

alstom said the agreement is to the mutual benefit of the two companies, since Alstom acquires a partner with modern, local Swedish workshops and Waplans gains access to Alstom’s international turbine technology and laboratory resources.

It will enable the two companies to jointly offer complete solutions for Swedish power producers’ requirements for electrical and mechanical equipment.

A more comprehensive local service in Sweden is a further benefit of the agreement.

Waplans will manufacture and supply turbine components, other mechanical equipment and hydraulic systems, backed by Alstom’s manufacturing capability for certain components. In joint offers of complete mechanical and electrical solutions, Alstom will supply electrical equipment such as new generators and generator equipment, control equipment, instrumentation and other electrical equipment for hydro power stations.
