Autogas, another name for propane when it is used as a motor fuel, is the third sought after vehicle fuel globally, behind only gasoline and diesel – but Americans drive less than 2% of the world’s 14.6 million Autogas vehicles, the company said.
Autogas for America expects to increase the number of US Autogas vehicles from 200,000 to 500,000 by mid-2013 and plans to achieve this goal by building a network of stakeholders; educating the US public, government and media about the fuel’s benefits; and encouraging America’s fleets to adopt Autogas.
The company said that 90% of Autogas, a clean fuel that produces an average of 25-30% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline, is domestically produced and is economical with lower per-gallon and operating costs compared to gasoline.
