Under the terms of the contract, AllEarth Renewables will perform the installation, including design of the solar farm’s electrical infrastructure and oversight and management of all subcontractors, and manufacturing the 382 AllSun Trackers required for the farm in Vermont.
The AllSun Tracker technology follows the movement of the sun throughout the day with a GPS system, enabling the solar farm located on a 32-acre site off of DuBois Drive in South Burlington to generate an estimated 3,000,000kWh of electricity per year.
The company has secured all the required permits for the project and plans to begin construction in early November with the project expected to be operational by early 2011.
AllEarth Renewables CEO David Blittersdorf said that this project was made possible through incentives that the State of Vermont passed last year to spur the development of new renewable energy generation.
“Part of this incentive package was Vermont’s Standard Offer for solar energy which was established at a rate of $0.30 per kWh, whiach provided an economic incentive to develop projects like this and help create sustainable jobs in Vermont’s hard-hit manufacturing sector,” Blittersdorf said.
