Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a contract to supply equipment for the 192MW Allain Duhangan hydroelectric project in India.

BHEL will design, manufacture, supply, erect and commission two high-head Pelton hydro turbines of 96MW each with matching generators, digital governors and a microprocessor-based control and monitoring system, along with associated auxiliaries.

The turbines will be manufactured at BHEL’s Bhopal plant, and the controls will be supplied by the company’s Electronics Division in Bangalore. BHEL’s power sector (Northern region) will undertake the execution on site.

The project, located near Manali in Himachel Pradesh, will reportedly take only 30 months to commission.
