Alcoa Howmet has planned the investment to enhance the production and capacity of industrial gas turbines at the Hampton facility. The industrial gas turbines are primarily used in the power sector for power generation.

Through the Virginia Investment Partnership program, Kaine approved a $500,000 performance-based grant, which is meant for the existing Virginia companies.

The company stated that the 25 new jobs would be created through the expansion project. Through the Virginia jobs investment program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance would provide the training assistance.

The Hampton plant, which is the company’s major industrial gas turbine plant, is a wing of Alcoa Power and Propulsion. It manufactures vanes and blades for turbines. The Hampton plant also manufactures superalloy and titanium aerospace structural components.
