Akuo Energy USA, a subsidiary of French renewable energy power producer Akuo Energy, has chosen 56 GE 1.7-103 wind turbines to power its Rocksprings Phase I wind farm in Val Verde County, Texas.

The US subsidiary of Akuo Energy has commenced the construction at Rocksprings project in December last year, with operations scheduled to begin in 2015.

In addition to the latest turbine supply deal, Akuo Energy USA and GE have signed a full service agreement to facilitate the long-term operation of the wind farm.

Akuo Energy USA CEO Brice Yharrassarry said that the company is pleased to have signed two major contractual agreements for the Rocksprings project, paving way for project financing in the second trimester of 2014.

"GE is global supplier to Akuo Energy with two previous turbine and service agreements in Turkey and in Montenegro for a total installed capacity of 172MW. We look forward to working with GE on this third contract, which is our first project in the US," Yharrassarry said.
