The purpose of the subsea modifications is to supply electricity to the compressor units, which will be installed in 2013.

Scope of work includes building and installing an 800 tonne new module and integration work on the Statoil-operated Asgard A and B platforms in the North Sea.

Design and procurement work will start immediately and fabrication work is expected to start in October 2011, with a scheduled delivery in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Aker Solutions executive vice president for Maintenance, Modifications and Operations Tore Sjursen said the contract for the design and construction of the subsea gas compression is the biggest contract award for Asgard development and furthur strengthens partnership with Statoil in the development of groundbreaking subsea compression technology.

Contract parties include Aker Solutions subsidiary Aker Offshore Partner and Statoil.
