Aker Solutions has won a Nkr3.2bn ($369m) contract from BP to provide maintenance and modifications services at the its oil and gas fields in offshore Norway.

As per the contract, Aker Solutions will provide services on the North Sea fields Ula, Tambar, Hod and Valhall, as well as the Skarv deposit in the Norwegian Sea.

The five-year-contract also has option for extension for up to another four years.

The Ula oil field is located in 70m of water and comprises three conventional steel facilities while the Tambar field is situated 16km south-east of Ula.

Located in the southern part of the Norwegian North Sea and in water depths of 70m, the Valhall field includes six separate steel platforms for quarters, drilling, wellheads, production, water injection, combined process- and hotel platform respectively.

The Hod field is an unmanned wellhead platform which is remotely operated from Valhall 13km away.

Additionally, the Skarv field commenced production in December 2012 in the Norwegian Sea, 210km off the coast of Sandnessjøen.

Aker Solutions Norway head Per Harald Kongelf said: "This contract was won in stiff international and national competition and will help secure jobs on the west coast of Norway, as well as provide crucial support for our development of operations farther north."

The company’s maintenance, modifications and operations units in Stavanger and Sandnessjøen will manage and execute the work at its fabrication yard in Egersund.
