After Allerdale Borough Council failed to make a decision on the Potato Pot project within the required 16 week timeframe, we appealed for non-determination in January 2013.

"This project on a brownfield site has all the right ingredients for a great wind project, so it’s a shame it had to go to Inquiry at all. Despite being held in April, the decision has been a long time coming but thankfully sense prevailed." said Richard Mardon, Chief Executive of Airvolution Energy.

Allerdale Borough Council were criticised during the inquiry proceedings by the Inspector, who said it was the most poorly presented case he had seen in 17 years.

The 6MW project is the largest consented project in our portfolio to date, taking our total consented projects to 30MW. We expect to start building the project in the second half of 2014.

The three turbines are estimated to produce electricity equivalent to the needs of 3,800 homes each year, and a community benefit fund will contribute £18,000 per year towards worthwhile local projects, totaling over £450,000 over the 25 year operating period of the wind turbines.
