Sinopec will produce the ‘1# bio-jetfuel’ at its refinery in Hangzhou, near Shanghai while contributing to securing a Chinese airworthiness certification with the country’s Central Government for alternative aviation fuels developed from home grown feedstock.
Airbus is bringing its technical expertise gained from securing certifications with the European Union and US as well as contributing to the selection of sustainable feedstock.
Airbus China president Laurence Barron remarked that bio-fuels are crucial components of helping airlines meet carbon emission targets for the aviation industry.
Sinopec senior vice president DAI Houliang added, "Bio-jetfuel is becoming increasingly important in aviation and the energy market.
