Lao government officials and representatives of the China International Water and Electricity Corporation signed an agreement in Vientiane in early May for the construction of the 100MW Nam Lik 1-2 hydroelectric power plant at Ban Hin Heup, north-west of the Lao capital.

According to the KPL news agency, the plant will cost around US$134M to construct, with funding from the Lao government’s Development Fund and a Chinese government credit.
