Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) of Shimla, India, is to take up the implementation of the 258MW Kashang hydroelectric power project in the Kinnaur district.

A protocol of intent was signed by the state government with Canadian Commercial Corporation of the government of Canada for integrated development of the project in two phases, with the first phase covering project preparation and the second phase involving construction. The two agencies have agreed to arrange finance for the first phase.

The Canadian agency will be responsible for survey and investigation, preparation of reports and designs, as well as the preparation of bid documents for project construction.
