South African Water Affairs Minister Ronnie Kasrils has agreed with his Swazi and Mozambican counterparts on the use and development of the shared water resources of the three countries. The agreement covers the Incomati river, which rises near Badplaas in Mpumalanga and then winds its way through the three countries until finally running into the Indian Ocean from Mozambique.

Called the Inkomati Development Initiative, the study, funded by the Danish government, will gather information on all current and future water projects in the area to lay the framework for future projects.
