African Energy Resources Limited (African Energy) said that the assay results from the first 10 holes at the Gojwane prospect, Botswana indicate that the first line of drilling has intersected a wide zone of potentially economic grade and thicknesses of near-surface uranium mineralization. Spectrometer readings from all drill samples indicate that mineralization is present in drilling over a very broad area of around 2km x 3km.
The results suggest that the Gojwane prospect contains the northern continuation of mineralization intersected by A-Cap Resources Ltd on their Letlhakane Project.
Assays are awaited for a further 82 holes.
A reverse circulation percussion drilling programme comprising 92 holes for a total of 4,512 meters (m) has been completed.
The company is assessing infill drilling requirements that would support the preparation of a resource estimate for the mineralization.
Best assays from these holes include: SES159 4m at 354 ppm U3O8 from 48m; SES161 4m at 395 ppm U3O8 from 51m; SES164 19m at 327 ppm U3O8 from 29m; and SES165 15m at 246 ppm U3O8 from 20m.
The company is currently waiting on further assay results from the current drilling programme. Once these results are received, an assessment of the infill drilling required to support an initial resource estimate for the prospect area will be undertaken. Infill drilling is likely to commence in early 2010, once seasonal rains have eased in the Sese project area and drill rig access is viable.
