At the nuclear DC Cook facility, Alstom will provide three replacement low-pressure nuclear steam turbine rotors for unit 1. At the Conesville 4 unit, Alstom will provide a high-pressure rotor and parts and perform the turbine installation. The retrofit is expected to increase the plant’s efficiency and will help offset the power requirements of the new SO2 scrubber installed at this site.

AEP and Alstom are also advancing carbon capture and storage technology. On October 30, Alstom and AEP commissioned a 20MW installation of Alstom’s chilled ammonia process for CO2 capture at AEP’s 1,300MW Mountaineer power plant in New Haven, West Virginia.
