US-based based utility AEP is seeking proposals for up to 250MW of power that would be directed to customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

AEP hopes to strike agreements with renewable-energy providers that could get generating facilities running by the end of 2005. Proposals were due 1 December 2004.

Generation technologies eligible to bid on the project include wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass and biomass-based waste products, including landfill gas, the company said. The company hopes to complete agreements with bidders next March.
