India-based Aeon Renewable Energy plans to develop a 25MW solar power plant in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The company expects incur an investment of INR2.5bn ($46.6m) for the development of the project and has selected Yingli Solar as the preferred supplier of photovoltaic modules.

Aeon Renewable Energy chairman R Chandrasekaran told the Hindu Business Line that solar power plant will come up at Pudukottai and Virudhunagar.

"After focusing in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, we will expand our footprint in south India with a capacity addition up to 50MW", said Chandrasekaran.

The company has also inked a joint venture agreement with Anna University and will hire 300 of its engineers to strengthen its installation, after sales and service support.
