The Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid (ADS) will partner with the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and the National Home Performance Council (NHPC) to host an event, ‘The National Summit on Integrating Energy Efficiency & Smart Grid’.

The event will take place on 15-16 October, 2013 in Washington, DC.

Speakers and audience at the summit will have an opportunity to work together and learn from each other.

The main aim of the summit is to use efficiency and smart grid integration to expand opportunities for both energy users and those who provide technologies and services.

Speakers will include experts from the program, performance, technology and policy arenas, who will discuss the barriers and opportunities relative to integrating energy efficiency and smart grid.

ADS executive director Dan Delurey said, "Energy efficiency and smart grid are converging in terms of technology, but not in terms of policy or program design.

"People have been asking for a venue to discuss this issue and to identify actions to support integration and coordination, and with the Summit we are trying to respond to that need," Delurey added.

NASEO executive director David Terry said, "Since the 1970s, the State Energy Offices have supported technology deployment to capture the benefits of energy efficiency."

"The National Summit on Integrating Energy Efficiency & Smart Grid provides a much needed forum to explore the intersection of technology and policy, recognizing that buildings are becoming increasingly dynamic in energy production and consumption", Terry added.
