The companies had previously announced the initial service offering in the Los Angeles area.
In the previous announcement, Waste Management has agreed to serve as the exclusive distributor of AbTech’s flagship SmartSponge product line to municipalities located in North America.
With the help of AbTech’s technologies, the municipalities will be able to remove hydrocarbons, sediment and other contaminants from lakes, streams, stormwater pipes, oceans or any body of water, moving or standing.
AbTech is also providing the new antimicrobial technology, Smart Sponge Plus, that reduces coliform bacteria found in stormwater, industrial wastewater, and municipal wastewater.
As part of the roll-out, the firms are deploying teams of stormwater experts to cities in California, Canada, and states in southeastern US, and plan to extend to the mid-Atlantic, Northeastern and Great Lakes regions.
