PLANS ARE UNDERWAY for the construction of a hydro power plant in Nigeria’s Abia State to boost power supply, the acting governor, Chief Stanley Ohajuruka, has said.

Ohajuruka made the disclosure on 4 December 2002 in Aba, Abia State during the induction of new members of the Aba Chambers of Commerce and inauguration of the chamber’s secretariat and fund raising ceremony.

He explained that the state government had begun discussions with foreign firms for the commencement of the project, adding that the administration was poised to improve the power situation in the state through an independent power plant.
