The company will construct the solar field using parabolic trough technology in Agua Prieta for the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission.

The plant utilizes parabolic mirrors which concentrate solar energy to heat liquids and power the same turbines used at the gas power plant.

The solar element will be supported by the Global Environment Facility of the United Nations Development Program.

The plant is expected to be operational in 22 months, reports Bloomberg.

The power plant will be a part of a gas-fueled combined cycle project and one of the first solar and gas-fired hybrid power plants in the world, the company said.
