ABG said the ‘Path 42’ project is part of a plan to extend the power network being developed by Imperial Irrigation District, to increase the capacity of the network and enable access to new sources of renewable energy in California.

Under the contract, ABG’s scope of work will involve reconductoring a total of 32km of a 230kV transmission line, as well as the upgrading the existing substations, under a turnkey format.

The company will also be responsible for the engineering, construction and commissioning, to ensure the highest levels of quality in every process.

The project is slated to take 12 months to complete and will be delivered in April 2014.

ABG will not retain any interest in the constructed assets.

The project will enable part of the region’s energy to be supplied in an efficient and sustainable way.
