The photovoltaic (PV) power plants, De Nittis 1, 2 and 3, are located on adjacent sites near the city of Foggia and will have a total generating capacity of 39MW.
The plants will be supplied with a complete electrical and control solution, including grid connections.
ABB said that preassembled and factory-tested electrical balance of plant modules are shipped to the project sites.
According to the company, all of the power and automation equipment will be optimized to increase productivity and reduce power losses.
The power plants are expected to be in operation by the third quarter of 2011 and will displace about 33,000 tons of CO2 emissions a year.
