Swedish-based ABB has secured a contract from EMAS AMC to supply power cables for their oil and gas field located off the coast of Norway.

Under the $20m contract, the company will deliver 55km of 52 kV, three-core submarine cable with integrated optical fiber, which can also accommodate additional connections in future.

EMAS AMC would begin installation in the third quarter of 2013.

The power cables would supply 20MW of electrical power from Statoil’s Sleipner fields to the Gudrun field, which is scheduled to begin oil and gas production in 2014.
