
Under the $55m contract, ABB will design, deliver, deploy and commission 220/132/33kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substations across four locations in Bihar.
The compact high-voltage GIS technology feature of the substations will reduce its footprint by up to 70% compared with conventional air-insulated switchgear (AIS) substations.
The contract also includes supply of medium-voltage switchgear, state-of-the-art IEC 61850-compliant protection and substation automation systems, as well as fiber-optic telecommunications systems.
ABB will also design, supply, install and commission a 220/132/33kV AIS substation in the Sadaipur region, West Bengal.
As part of the contract, the company will be responsible for the supply of IEC 61850-compliant substation automation, power-line communication carriers (PLCC) and fiber-optic telecommunications systems.
