The air-insulated switchgear outdoor switchyard Maua III will be built in Manaus, the capital city of the Brazilian state of Amazonas.
ABB is responsible for the design, engineering, supply, erection, commissioning and start-up of the substation, including civil works.
The company will supply power transformers, high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnecting switches, instrument transformers, surge arrestors, as well as medium-voltage equipment and auxiliary systems for this project, which is expected to be completed by 2012.
ABB said it will also install a substation automation system compliant with the global IEC 61850 communications standard.
