Swiss Swedish engineering group ABB has signed a frame agreement with the Italian power company Ansaldo Energia to improve power plant efficiency.

Under the agreement, ABB will supply control systems to the 760 MW plant currently being built at Sparanise in southern Italy.

The frame agreement covers Sparanise, Rosignano and Leinì power plants, and has a potential value of $22 million. In separate orders, ABB is to supply step-up transformers and generator circuit breakers.

The Sparanise power plant is being built on behalf of Calenia Energia, a company controlled by EGL of Switzerland and Hera of Italy.
