Under the $28m contract, ABB will design, engineer, install, and commission the substation package which includes supply of 2X500 MVA, 400/220kV transformers, nine 400kV and seven 220kV GIS bays, a 125 MVAR reactor and other associated equipment.
In particular, ABB will extend the capacity of the current 765/400 kilovolt (kV) gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substations located in Vadadora, Gujarat and Manesar, Haryana. It will upgrade air-insulated switchgear (AIS) in Malerkotla, Punjab, to GIS.
ABB said that the contract is expected to boost power infrastructure in the country while helping to meet growing electricity demand.
