The company will design, engineer, supply and commission the 400kV GIS and equipment supporting the connections.

The GIS will be installed in an indoor substation, which will support a new 400kV transmission connection between the substations at Kassø and Tjele, as well as linking with the German and Norwegian grids.

According to ABB, one of the main reasons for building the new power link is to help Denmark’s power system integrate large amounts of renewable energy.

ABB high-voltage products business head Giandomenico Rivetti said that the company’s 400kV GIS is extremely compact, and its design enhances system efficiency and reliability while minimizing maintenance needs.

Energinet.dk is the Danish national power utility and transmission system operator.
