The company will invest $50m to add production equipment to manufacture high-voltage insulated gate bipolar transistor devices (IGBT) and modules.

The expansion, scheduled to be complete next year, will help the company increase its market presence in the semiconductor sector.

ABB’s Power Systems division head Peter Leupp said the investment would increase the company’s production capacity to meet the demand for high-voltage power semiconductors.

In 2009, ABB also invested $150m to increase capacity and infrastructure at the manufacturing facility.
