The new tool, which is said to help increase personal safety and production efficiency, is powered by a software solution from Mobilaris and features a web based user interface with a 3D view showing real-time location of assets and personnel.

Using the real-time location information, the operators will be able to control production and automate operations at the mine.

The tool is also capable of performing spatial search, navigation support, advanced data mining and analysis, creation and management of geofences, the company said.

ABB said that the system helps reduce evacuation time by showing the closest mining rescue chamber and escape routes.

ABB integrated mine automation global product manager Patrik Westerlund said: "ABB Mine Location Intelligence will help customers to visualize their mining operations and reach a new level of situation awareness."

"This will change how mines are operated and will be an important tool for increased safety and production efficiency," added Westerlund.
