ABB has exhibited new power supply and distribution solution for use in critical power applications at this year’s Hannover Messe event.

The company's MNS-Up is a modular and secure power supply and distribution solution, which can be used in mission-critical applications such as data centers and process industries.

MNS-Up is said to incorporate uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and switchgear technologies into a single and compact system.

The integration of MNS-Up with ABB Ability mission critical power control system will enable to use in critical power applications.

The new power distribution solution will enable switchgear and UPS modules to safely and quickly exchange without disconnecting power. It expands in 100 kW steps and each frame of the system can support five 100 kW UPS modules.

MNS-Up can be installed in various configurations, including L-shape, U-shape, straight lines or back-to-back, without external bus ducts or cables.

It has been already installed in Green Datacenter of Switzerland, which uses 5.2MW system at its 7,265 m2 facility in Zurich-West and the University Hospital in Basel.

ABB’s electrification solutions business managing director Ralf Heinemeyer said: “ABB is committed to helping customers run their operation more reliably and efficiently. By integrating proven UPS and switchgear technologies into a single, compact system, MNS-Up saves space, time and money.

“MNS-Up is an all-in-one solution which is fully integrated, modular and scalable and for the first time we are showing how ABB Ability can support our critical power customers to protect their business thanks to greater visibility of performance and through advanced services.”
