The cloud computing center, which relies on the sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale, needs secure, efficient and reliable power supply.
Baidu-built cloud computing center, which has a data storage capacity of over 4,000 petabytes, is expected to enter service by the end of 2014.

ABB is responsible for providing UniGear 550 and SafeRing medium-voltage switchgear and a five-year service package with quarterly on-site maintenance and testing to help secure power supplies to cloud computing infrastructure of Baidu.
Specially designed for indoor installations, the UniGear 550 air insulated switchgear provides power reliability and space savings, making it ideal for urban areas, light industries and special applications such as in the marine sector.
The SafeRing is a ring main unit (RMU) for the secondary distribution network and can be used in various applications including compact secondary substations, small industries and renewables.
