Switzerland-based power and automation technology group ABB has secured an order worth $40m to extend the export terminal of Eni refinery located in Taranto, Italy.

Italy-based multinational oil and gas company Eni has awarded the contract as a part of its strategy to upgrade its refinery infrastructure and ensure connection with onshore Tempa Rossa oil plant.

Under the contract, ABB will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the new installation and also
provide project management and pre-commissioning services.

The company will also provide all the electrical equipments, control system, electrical and control room, mechanical and process equipment, diesel generator and fire-fighting system.

ABB Process Automation division head Veli-Matti Reinikkala said, "This new project will help to improve the local oil transportation infrastructure for eni."

As a part of the strategy, Eni is also extending the existing pier, which will have five loading arms, with a transfer capacity of 3,000 cubic meters per hour.

The project is scheduled for completion by August 2015.
