Sungrow has supplied its central inverter SG2500-MV for the project, which is the world's largest floating PV power plant.
It features integration of the inverter, the transformer and the switchgear, as a station with lower transportation cost because of its 20-foot containerized design.
The plant is situated on a lake that formed after mining subsidence and rainy weather.
Besides the inverter system, Sungrow’s combiner box SunBox PVS-8M/16M-W supplied for the project is claimed to have been customised for floating power plants. This enables it to work stably in an environment with higher levels of humidity and salt spray.
Sungrow president Renxian Cao said: "Introducing cutting-edge technologies to products is what we are always committed to. We continue to offer better products and solutions to customers all over the world.”
Recently, the company introduced SG125HV, a 1500VDC string inverter system designed to reduce installation and balance of systems costs for utility-scale solar plants. The new system has been designed to take in a capacity of 125kW.
It is being claimed that the solar industry has been demanding a 1500V string inverter to control the Levelised Cost of Electricity.
