The installation of these charging stations is a part of Ireland’s nationwide e-mobility infrastructure initiative which calls ESB to install charging stations in homes, on-street and along motor-ways throughout Ireland to facilitate EV charging at a wide range of accessible venues.
By the end of 2011, the ESB has it on agenda to install a total of 1500 on-street charging stations. Up to 30 fast chargers are expected to be installed by end of next year along all inter-urban routes, 60km apart.
ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations developed by US-based Coulomb Technologies uses advanced software technology to help utilities and governments to scale their networks to accommodate large numbers of charging stations, according to the company.
The ChargePoint Network is accessible to all drivers of electric vehicles and provides authentication, management, and control through multiple web-based portals for hosts, fleet managers, drivers, and utilities.
