International drilling and engineering contractor KCA Deutag (KCAD) announced that it has received new contracts and contract extensions for onshore drilling in the Middle East, Russia and Africa, worth approximately $110m.

In the Middle East, KCAD has won contract extensions for five heavy rigs operating in Oman for a total of seven years. The extension for each rig ranges from one to two years. The company has also signed a contract with a new client in Oman for 2000hp rigs for a fixed term of six months.

The company said that Oman is a major market for the company and following the acquisition of the Omani and Saudi Arabian businesses of Dalma Energy last year, the company has 24 rigs in-country.

Bentec is the KCAD’s drilling rig and oilfield equipment manufacturer, which has also set up a substantial manufacturing facility in Nizwa location, and operates as IDTEC.

In Russia, KCAD has secured a new drilling contract for a 1000hp rig with one of the integrated oil companies in the country. The contract has been signed for a fixed term of one year. In addition to the company’s 17 land rigs. KCAD is the drilling contractor on three platforms offshore Sakhalin Island in Russia.

One of the KCAD’s 700hp rigs has won a one year contract in Nigeria, to carry out a workover program with a further one year extension option.  Apart from this, a contract for 1500hp second rig was received in Nigeria for a three month program, which is expected to be operating in Nigeria.

KCAD, in a statement, said: “This is the rig’s second contract in quick succession in this location and there are many other active opportunities that we are currently pursuing. KCAD has also had some success in Algeria where we were awarded a short term contract extension for one of our 1500hp Speed rigs.”
