Equinor Energy (Equinor) has secured a consent to drill well 16/1-30 S in production licence 167 in the North Sea.

The consent applies to the drilling of exploration well 16/1-30 S, with an option to drill sidetrack 16/1-30 A. The location of 16/1-30 S is on the Utsira High in the North Sea, at these geographical coordinates: 58º; 58’ 50.648” N; 02º 16’ 50.775” E

Water depth at the site is 113 metres. The drilling operations are scheduled to begin in late April 2019 and are estimated to take 82 days, including a potential sidetrack and testing.

The well is to be drilled by West Phoenix, a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Moss Maritim CS50 type, operated by Seadrill Management (Seadrill).

West Phoenix was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AOC) by the PSA in June 2008.
