The EPC contract, which is worth more than $195m, has been awarded by Maoneng Australia to Decmil for the Sunraysia Solar PV project.

The solar project is supported by power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the University of New South Wales and AGL Energy.

In December last year, Maoneng Australia signed a PPA for the supply of 300MW of solar power to utility AGL Energy.

Under the contract, the company agreed to supply up to 800,000 MWh of renewable energy per annum to AGL for 15 years.

For the investment and development of the Sunraysia project, Maoneng has signed a long-term equity partnership with global infrastructure investor and manager John Laing Group. Besides, a consortium of domestic and international banks has provided debt financing for the project.

Decmil managing director and Group CEO, Scott Criddle said: “Decmil is looking forward to partnering with Maoneng on the Sunraysia project. Both organisations bring together complimentary skills to successfully deliver this project to the Australian renewable energy market.

“Decmil has for over 40 years successfully delivered major regional infrastructure and, following a detailed planning process, is operationally ready to deliver this project.”

For Maoneng, the Sunraysia project is its second major project in the Australian market, with first being the Mugga Lane Solar Park.

The Mugga Lane Solar Park was constructed under the ACT Government’s Reverse Solar Auction.

Afterthe Gullen Solar farm co-located within the existing Gullen Range wind farm, the Sunraysia project is second major EPC contract for Decmil.

Maoneng Group executive chairman and CEO Morris Zhou said: “Maoneng welcomes Decmil as partners to successfully deliver the Sunraysia project. We are confident in Decmil’s capability and pleased to see their commitment and resourcing towards this project.

“Maoneng is one of the first companies to have successfully developed, built and owned a utility scale solar PV plant in Australia. Our mission is to assist Australia’s transition towards a low carbon society through the development of sustainable social infrastructure.”
