Caverion has signed Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) agreement with Nordanstig Municipality and Nordanstig Bostäder in Sweden, to increase energy efficiency and improve indoor climate through modernisation of heating and sanitation, ventilation & air conditioning, cooling, electricity and automation systems.

The agreement covers 108,000 m2 of publicly owned buildings.

Caverion Sweden CEO Klas Tocklin said: “In close cooperation with both the municipality and the property company, we are looking forward to creating an optimal indoor environment for the people living and working in the buildings.

“The project will result in significantly reduced energy and maintenance costs, a win-win situation for Caverion, our clients and the tax payers in the Nordanstig Municipality.”

Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) service is a long-term contract where different energy efficiency means and investments are financed through savings in energy costs.

In an EPC project, Caverion guarantees that the client’s budget is met during the agreement, covering analyses, decisions, modernisations, and in-house follow-ups.

Nordanstig Municipality technology & sustainability operations director EvaLinda Grensman said: “This year, we’ll start with an inventory of the buildings, which will be ongoing until March 2019. After that, we’ll know which measures need to be taken.”

Nordanstig Bostäder CEO Birger Tellin said: “We’re hoping that the project will result in lowered maintenance costs and that this in turn will free funds for other maintenance actions. We’re also hoping that this project will further increase the competence level in our maintenance organisation and that the tenants will become more aware of the buildings’ energy and water usage.

“Our goal is to establish good remote monitoring as our buildings are spread out over a large area. We feel confident with Caverion as a partner since they have performed several similar projects with good results.”

The analysis phase starts in June 2018 and is expected to be completed during the spring of 2019. The client will then decide whether to proceed with the suggested measures.

Caverion has completed a series of EPC projects in Sweden during the last couple of years. At the moment, Caverion Sweden is underway with the largest EPC project in the Nordic countries, covering 430,000 m2in Söderhamn Municipality.

Nordanstig Municipality and Nordanstig Bostäder AB are part of Caverion’s Public sector clients segment.
