The next-generation facility is designed to produce 16.5 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol per year from sugar beet tailings, potato wastes and other organic byproducts. The owner recently achieved financial close for the plant and has issued full notice to proceed with construction activities.

Commercial operations are scheduled for late 2019.

BioMass Solution principal Keshav Rajpal said: “NAES has built a reputation for delivering a standard of O&M practices that can help us realize our mission – which is to develop a best-in-class fleet of renewable energy plants that make profitable, environmentally beneficial use of problematic waste streams.

“Red River will not only solve an environmental problem but create well-paying local jobs and contribute significantly to the Grand Forks tax base.”

NAES power services senior vice president Dan Consie said: “We are excited to take on the operation and maintenance of this facility for BioMass Solution. We have established a responsive partnering relationship with their team and have mutually developed an operating plan that will more than meet their specific performance and commercial goals.”

Headquartered in Madison, Wis., BioMass Solution’s mission is to acquire, develop, operate and manage renewable energy facilities in North America that bring financially and environmentally sustainable solutions to undervalued and problematic waste.

The company solves an environmental problem while producing renewable energy, creating jobs, contributing to the local tax base and generating strong financial returns.
