The acquisition comes on heels of company’s recently discovered multiple seam, near-surface mid-volatile coking coal deposit at the Altitude North property.
The company identified significant coal seam intersections and traced south to north along the entire extent of the property.
Upon sampling the coal outcrops for proximal and petrographic analysis, the company validated the Alberta Government exploration reports which indicated the presence of potential mid-volatile coking coal.
Altitude Resources president and CEO Gene Wusaty said: "We are adding additional properties with favourable coal structure to our Altitude North Project portfolio.
"We will be planning another field reconnaissance program for Altitude North for additional mapping, sampling the coal outcrops and identifying future drill targets."
The additional coal lease applications have an area of 640ha and the entire property now encompasses an area of 8,202ha and stretches over a length of 23km.
In March 2015, Altitude Resources acquired new Alberta Crown coal lease applications adjoining its Altitude North property, increasing its land position to approximately 7,613ha at the Altitude North project.
Altitude Resources is engaged in developing Palisades coal project located northwest of Hinton, Alberta, the Elan project through its participation in the Elan LP, and the Altitude North project near Grande Cache, Alberta.
