Kochi refinery will be installed with pulse jet blowdown systems as part of an ongoing integrated expansion project, which is intended to increase crude processing capacity significantly over the next four years.
The upgrade project is also expected to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the refinery, which currently has production capacity of 9.5 tons a year.
The public crude oil refiner is expected increase its capacity to 15.5 million tons a year and produce auto-fuels complying with Euro-IV/Euro-V specifications following completion of the modernization program scheduled by 2018.
The refinery is planned to be equipped with components for the pulse jet blowdown systems, designed for recovering and containing powders for a range of applications, by the end of this year.
The components comprises spent and fresh hopper vessels, pulse jet valves and reservoir, tube sheets and a control system for use with a timer or differential pressure transmitter.
Porvair will partner with GR Engineering and Engineers India as part of the contract.

The pulse jet blow-down filter technology is designed to provide effective emission control while meeting environmental requirements of less than 50mg/Nm3 particulate emissions.
Bharat Petroleum, which acquired the refinery in 2006, announced its plan last year to invest around £480m for the refinery upgrade project.
