The drilling will be done by applying a combination of ‘shallow’ heat flow drilling (500m depth, 15km spacing) with the company’s innovative 3D temperature field modelling (3D-TFM) methodology.
The 3D-TFM is designed to efficiently ‘map’ temperature variation over large prospective areas, at a fraction of the cost of conventional deeper exploration drilling.
Activity is fully funded, and supported by a $3 million Matched Grant under the Australian Government’s Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI).
The exploration heat flow drilling programme is expected to run through to April 2009, with results returned after holes have had time equilibrate.
